History of the RACHEL union catalogue and participating Judaica libraries.
The Association of Jewish Libraries records RACHEL's launch in 2004 by four private libraries in Paris. The project aimed to preserve Jewish documentary heritage and make collections easier to discover through a shared catalogue.
Later institutional descriptions report more than 200,000 records. Counts and participation can change, so they are attributed to their sources rather than presented as a live database total.
